Benefits of going to Contemporary art museum?

The best benefit of going to a contemporary art museum is to see what current, living artists are doing these days. Maybe people don't like "modern" art so they don't go to a "contemporary" art museum. Usually "contemporary" means the artists are alive NOW, not "modern" art necessarily. Too bad... people are missing out on some great stuff.
