For dancers, where do I start?

I'm 17 and I want to learn how to dance but I don't know where to start. I like the idea of contemporary dance style, but think that would be hard to get in to straight away. I have been trying to find a suitable class for a while now but don't want to go in with advanced students or young children. Can anyone Help?
