What are the differences between these dances?

lyrical is much more ballet-based when you compare it to cobtemporary. contemporary may use a combo of jazz and ballet steps in a dance, and is more interpretive and related to the lyrics of thr song chosen. modern is structured. there are different schools of modern...so people are trained differently. i learned graham modern, but i've learned some cunningham modern and taylor modern. jazz is different from all of these. not so much structure (when referring to the jazz style on so you think you can dance). jazz began in the 40s (i believe) with jack cole. jack cole jazz is very structured.
